彎彎曲曲，小路逼仄，巷弄交錯。這裡是北京的老胡同，老北京的根。這座古都的歷史和市井文化就飄蕩在胡同裡斑駁的牆垣中，堆 雜碎的四合院裡，老北京家長里短的談笑間。直面著破破爛爛，一代又一代的老北京人硬是在這裡活得恬淡。
狹窄的街道間，只見一個簡單乾淨的玻璃門，裡面發出明亮的光芒。推門進去，方才發現這裡別有洞天——一個甚有味道的茶館。

茶館占地共計450 平方公尺，建築空間呈L形。這裡曾被用作商務會議室，但由於管理不善，後來改造成為茶館。其實，眼前這個優雅空間的前身，是一座破舊的老宅。
從木塊結構和灰磚的大小，可以看出，建築的北翼建在清代之前。東西翼已經腐爛的木頭結構，表明這個房子曾在上世紀70 年代和80 年代被改造過。對這棟房子進行修復和改造，須考慮建築物的年齡，其財務狀況和歷史價值。
仔細考察下來，Arch Studio 決定北翼部分要確保其歷史外觀，用磚來修復嚴重損壞的部分。南翼部分則通過屋頂和牆壁的翻新，給整個建築打造一個基本風格。東西翼拆掉，用木質結構重新打造一個有坡度的斜屋頂。

主牆之外，Arch Studio 打造了彎曲的走廊和蔥鬱的青竹， 讓這裡像是「曲徑通幽」的園林深處。這種設計，打破了這個老建築之前沉悶和狹窄的格局，讓它變身為一個開闊又明亮的空間。此外，充足的光線，透明的玻璃牆，純白色的畫廊，讓新建的部分更為鮮活，原有的部分更為古樸。「新」和「舊」的個性都十分鮮明，且彼此呼應。另外，彎曲的走廊，將庭院天然地分為三個部分，讓每一個部分都有玻璃牆外的風景，並且實現了從開放茶座到私密雅間的天然過度。

北京的胡同，有著豐富的歷史和深厚的文化積澱，與此同時它也有著一個複雜的現實。老城的居民有責任保護胡同建築的歷史價值和藝術價值。在這個項目中，我們看到，在對胡同建築的改造和翻新，新的設計並非來自「靈光一現」的靈感，而是源於對項目獨特需求和現實條件的深入研究。在深入了解和研究的基礎上，不斷挑戰和突破現實的限制條件，持續改進，從概念到實施細節，從建築結構到內部裝潢，讓空間成為人與人，人與環境溝通的媒介，從而創造出了一個全新的宜居空間。
