The design of your home can reflect your personality, as your choice of furniture is an expression of your lifestyle and taste. Bearing these correlations in mind, Italian-made Poliform strives to achieve harmony and unity in interior design. Its furniture pieces—sofas, beds, cabinets, and tables—all light up a room with elegance and simplicity.
Traditions and Innovations
In 1942, Alberto and Aldo Spinelli and Giovanni Anzani started a family artisan business in the Brianza area, north of Milan and near Lake Como. As the birthplace of Italian furniture design, Brianza is an important source of inspiration for the country’s leading role in the global furniture market.
In the 1970s, after World War II and the development of the Industrial Revolution, people’s lifestyles changed dramatically, and traditional furniture gradually wasn’t able to meet their requirements. Poliform was born in this era, with Alberto Spinelli, Aldo Spinelli, and Giovanni Anzani, turning the family business into a modern brand. The “Poli” part of the name represents diversity—a variety of forms of furniture. This transformation inherits traditional Italian craftsmanship and pursues excellence and exquisiteness with fresh perspectives. Although Poliform has grown into an international company with branches in 85 countries, each piece of furniture is still made in Italy and subjected to rigorous testing to guarantee longevity and durability.
The evolution of Poliform showcases openness and flexibility for the modern lifestyle as well as elegance and simplicity. Poliform has decorated the living spaces of many celebrities, and has collaborated with top-notch hotels and condominium complexes in New York City and abroad.
Multifunctional Modern Aesthetics
While competitors centered on sofa design, Poliform focused on creating more durable pieces with higher-grade and sustainable materials. Combining technical expertise with an entrepreneurial spirit, the founding partners invested in production technologies to offer functional modular systems that would meet shifting social and economic values. They created a well-designed walk-in closet that meets all aspects of ergonomics. It is one of the company’s signature designs.
Modular and sectional design provides creative interpretations for personalized needs and aesthetics. Co-designed by Jean-Marie Massaud and Poliform, Lexington is a pillar-based bedroom system that allows for wall or ceiling configurations. The system also provides two-sided compositions, with furniture pieces that are finished on both front and back.
The Lexington night system includes upright pieces in champagne or slate-painted finish to which shelves and drawer units are attached. The system provides a wide range of organizational features, such as trays and racks for trousers, shirts, handbags, and shoes. Its day system complements the furnishings.
Poliform attaches great importance to family life, and the living room is a crucial space for shared experiences. The pillar finish is available in golden oak and black elm grain, and the interior components are designed to be softer and gentler than the night system cabinets. The flexible panel space or slide drawers accommodate various storage needs, and the flip-top door design allows the storage space to be used as a desk. With the built-in LED lighting system, the Lexington bookcase can be utilized for both display and storage, not only for books, but also for collectibles.
Poliform’s customized cabinets break through spatial limitations, dividing space while maintaining continuity and unity. Its diversified and extensive range of furniture infuses the Poliform style into everyday life.
